THE DIGITAL IMPACT AWARDS……

THE DIGITAL IMPACT AWARDS, BLU FLAMINGO AND WHAT TO HEAR FROM THAT WHICH IS NOT SAID

Esmeralda Santiago, a Puerto Rican author and actress once famously said “Tell me who you walk with and I will tell you who you are”. A reference to how we influence or are influenced strongly by the company we keep, Ms. Santiago made the case for the need to keep and stay around good people.

Of course, this article is not about the friends you choose as a person (that is one for another day), but rather, in more literal terms, the “company” you choose. For pretty much any business that provides a service to other businesses, it is a global rule of thumb to point potential customers to already existing clients that you have served satisfactorily. It is a bonus however, if those clients do the talking for you; and that is where the Digital Impact Awards come in.

Unless you have been living under a rock (a very big one, the size of Mars), you have heard about the Digital Impact Awards, an event created to “recognize and reward individuals and organizations across Africa that are spearheading the use of digital tools to not only enhance financial and digital inclusion but also lead to continental economic transformation”.

For the 2018 edition of the Digital Impact Awards (more famously referred to by the acronym DIAA), there are 29 categories for Uganda from which winners will be chose. From banking to government to telecommunication and the beverage industry, the organizers of the DIAA combed through all major sectors to select those companies they felt have been outstanding during the past year for recognition.

You probably already see where I am going with this. In virtually all categories you will recognize a few recurring names (in primary school, we called this the “Intersection Set”). Look closer and you will see companies like Airtel Uganda, Centenary Bank, NSSF, Bell Lager showing up again and again and again.

In another world, that wouldn’t matter much, but in the world of digital marketing that we live in today, it matters A LOT. As more and more companies in Uganda and across the world realize the power of digital marketing and digital channels of delivery through which they can reach wider markets at lower costs, organizations, large and small are increasingly for looking able partners with a proven (and recognized) record to achieve their business objectives.

“What do the companies named above have in common?”, you might ask. It is the partner they have chosen to work with, Blu Flamingo Digital Africa. More than any digital agency, Blu Flamingo clients picked up the most DIAA nominations, by far.

Blu Flamingo Digital Africa is the leading digital marketing and digital solutions company in Uganda, oops! Sorry, East Africa (and soon, Africa). Growing out of a small office in Kampala almost 10 years ago, Blu Flamingo now operates in five (yes, 5) African countries: Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Rwanda and Kenya.

Offering a 360 approach to digital solutions and marketing (including digital payment solutions, digital strategy, social media marketing, online advertising, web and app development, content creation and certified academic and corporate training) Blu Flamingo is the partner agency for a solid list of some of the most recognized brands in Uganda and from across a wide spectrum of industries and sectors like telecommunication, health, legal, transportation, FMCG, banking and government.

If we are indeed the company we keep, what the nominations list for this year’s Digital Impact Awards says best (without saying nothing at all) is that Blu Flamingo should be top of your list when looking for a digital partner to move your business in this 21st century.
