On April 12, 2016 Google announced a plan to train 1 Million African youth on digital skills within one year.
As a result of this announcement Google partnered with Blu Flamingo to bolster it's already existing program; DigiCon Mini, a digital training initiative targeting the youth.
A partnership was born with training delivered by Blu Flamingo, with support from Google.
The initiative Kicked off in Uganda and Rwanda to be followed by Tanzania.
The 1st phase runs from September to November 2016 targeting 20,000 young men and women.
DigiCon Mini is a new pathway in education, employment and empowerment, proving that by learning and improving digital skills, one can increase their chances of becoming employed or starting their own business or freelance career in Sub-Saharan Africa.
DigiCon Mini will also be paving way to the major DigiCon 2017 Digital Conference to be held in Uganda in 2017 and annually in different African countries.
